About Us:

When we bought our home in 1986, it came with 40 acres of land, most of which was planted to corn and soybeans.  Our plan was that as we moved toward retirement (MANY years off, or so it seemed) we could use the land somehow for retirement income.  We were thinking about growing an orchard, or berries, or maybe Christmas trees.
While on a drive to visit our families in western New  York in 2001, we noticed a poster at an Ohio rest stop advertising a daylily festival.  We had long enjoyed our gardens, particularly the few daylilies we had at the time, so we decided to stop at the festival on our way home.  We enjoyed chatting with the owners of the daylily “farm”, purchased a few daylilies, and got on the road again.  As we were about to pull out of the driveway, we looked at each other and Mary said “We could do this! “  That inspiration began the planning for our “Patchwork Perennials” nursery.  One of the daylilies we purchased that day was “Sunday Gloves”.  It is still one of our favorites.
